Feis Party!
The Shelley School of Irish Dance holds no classes in July. So every year at the end of June, after the Utah Feis, the school has a feis party to celebrate the end of the school year as well as a job well done at the feis. This year we had a pot luck BBQ at a local park with food, games, and Irish music.
After dinner, Tina Shelley organized a few races around the park for the younger students and gave out prizes. It was fun to watch the little dancers race their hearts out for a tiny Dum Dum Lollipop. I had the chance to take lot of photos at the party and enjoyed just relaxing and hanging out after months of hard practice.
It’s important to take a break from dancing now and then. I find it very helpful that we take a month off every year to rest. After a month long break without classes I always find myself really excited to come back in August, fresh and ready to learn new dances.
