Irish Dance Photography

2 April 2010 One Comment by Shelly Hathaway

I’m building a large Irish Dance Photography Portfolio. It started with a New Years resolution to take and post three good photos every day in 2010. After succeeding to take all the photos I set out to take each day and looking through all of them, I found that 70% of them turned out to be photos of Irish Dancers.

It’s become a habit now to take photos of others dancing in between the times that I’m dancing. I’ve found taking photos of Irish dancers in action is something I really love to do. Because I’m an Irish dancer myself, I can easily anticipate jumps and leaps and have become quite skilled at capturing dramatic and graceful moments.

So I’ve started a new project. I plan to travel to certified Irish dance schools and take individual and school photos of Irish dancers in action. It will be a wonderful adventure and many dancers will get a chance to see some great photos of themselves dancing!

If you or your school is interested in some great action photos of your Irish dancers, let me know!
