Dublin Horses Around

5 August 2009 No Comment by Rebecca @ Diddlyi

Picture 1Something I was completely unaware of before I moved to Ireland is the fact that the Irish love horses. (I’d like to think I’m not the only one who didn’t know this truth, so if I am, please don’t tell me.) For hundreds of years everything to do with horses from racing to jumping and the people who train, ride, and just generally like horses have been popular and ever present throughout the country.

Each year since 1868, one of Ireland’s affection for horses is celebrated at the Royal Dublin Society in Dublin. The Dublin Horse Show is one of the most celebrated and well attended events of the year. Tens of thousands of visitors from Ireland and abroad travel to Dublin for the conspicuousness international show jumping competition, national showing competition, shopping (there are products for both horses and humans), entertainment, and more. For a complete list of events, click here.

This year’s show will take place from August 5th to the 9th, 2009.
