Dog fell 130 feet off Antrim coast cliff and lives!
A Belfast family’s dog went missing during a family vacation in Ballycastle (Antrim, Northern Ireland). The Williamson’s springer spaniel, Laddy, fell off a cliff, miraculously landed in a cave after plunging 130 feet, and then survived for 8 days until he was found. Irish comedian breaks world record
Tommy Tiernan recently broke a world record for non-stop solo comedy. Tiernan incredibly performed for 36 hours and 15 minutes straight! (Ok, he did allow himself small five minute breaks after each performance.) The show entitled ‘Testamental’ took place at Nun’s Island Theatre in Galway. New Guinness just for Americans!
If you’ve ever had a pint of Guinness in the United States, you know that in most cases it just doesn’t taste as nice as when you’re enjoying a pint in Ireland. Well, Diageo [they manufacture the beer] plan to introduce a special brew solely for the U.S. market that boasts to be fizzier and stronger than what is available now. 226 year old Irish Giant…
Michael Brennan is in talks with the Irish government to urge a British museum to release the skeletal body of Cork native Charles Byrne (1761 -1783), an “Irish Giant.” Byrne’s 8′ 2” skeleton now rests in London’s Hunterian Museum; however, Brennan claims Byrne’s wished to be buried off the coast of Ireland as Byrne did not want to be a specimen for anatomists. (According to the Irish Herald, people of Byrne’s size were part of a “group of human curiosities who had celebrity status in London.”) To read more about Byrne’s story, click here.
